A sub-genre is a more specific generalisation of a film with in a less specific genre.
Twilight
Sub genre: Super-natural Teen Film
Twilight contains both convections of a supernatural film and a teen drama film. Twilight contains the typical convection of a teen drama, such as the teen male and teen female lead. It also has a romantic story. Twilight also contains the elements of a supernatural film such as the use of the vampires and supernatural powers.
Halloween
Sub Genre: Teen Horror Film
Halloween contains the generic codes of a teen drama film as it has teenagers as the lead characters. Elements of the film that show that its a horror film is that fact that its set on Halloween night. It also contains many tense moment and people getting scared throughout.
